"I'm Not A Genre... I'm A DJ"
DjBwana
DjBwana : aka : Abel Benjamin Gorka
Abel originally got into electronic music in 1990 with
the release of Enigmas debut album MCMXC a.D.
"Once I heard Sadeness Part 1 on the radio I had to
have it. I just loved the way the beats flowed with
the Gregorian chanting. I waited by the radio with
a tape recorder, as soon as the song came on, I
got my 1st pirate copy."
Abels stepfather at the time was a keyboard player and was familiar with how Enigma must have produced this track, so the next birthday
included a Yamaha RX-15 drum machine and
the beats ensued.
In 1994 Abel was introduced to the electronic
music scene, or rave scene in Detroit. Abel hit
every party in the 'D' for 2 years solid and then
started going to rave events all over the United
States and Canada.
Originally a producer with electronic music influences from Detroit, Chicago, East coast, West coast, and the U.K., Abel started branching out into all varieties of electronic beats, as well as, DJ-ing. Now Abel can be found spinning under the name DjBwana, dropping all sorts of bass with tunes in genres such as; Break Beats, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Hip Hop, House, Jungle, Reggaeton, Trap, Techno, Trance, and then some.
